Posted on January 7, 2014

Covenant HomeCare, East Tennessee’s largest locally owned home health and hospice provider, has been named one of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States.

Sponsored by OCS HomeCare by National Research Corporation and DecisionHealth, the award identifies Covenant HomeCare as among the Top 25 percent of Medicare-certified agencies in the nation. The rankings are based on an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, best practice implementation, patient experience, quality improvement and financial performance.

National Research Corporation is recognized as the largest patient satisfaction measurement firm in the U.S and is the leading provider of home health metrics and analytics. DecisionHealth provides the home care industry with analysis, guidance and tools to improve revenue cycle performance, profitability and regulatory compliance, and publishes the independent newsletter, Home Health Line.

“It is an honor for Covenant HomeCare to be recognized as one of the best performing agencies in the nation,” said John Huskey, president of Covenant HomeCare. “Since this award is based on cumulative performance for quality of care, quality improvement, patient experience, process measure implementation, and financial management it is a truly comprehensive picture of a home health agency.  And it is a reflection of the excellent care our employees provide each year to thousands of patients in east Tennessee.”

Covenant HomeCare, whose mission is to help people live with comfort, dignity and independence, cares for more than 4,700 patients annually through branches in Knoxville, Oak Ridge and Morristown. These three facilities serve the following counties: Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier and Union.

“The 2013 HomeCare Elite winners demonstrate a commitment to providing patient-centered care and serving as leaders in the home health community,” said Mary Oakes, senior vice president of post-acute at National Research. “Their success is a tribute that managing healthcare data and utilizing it for improvement initiatives lead to high quality care, and we recognize them for their outstanding achievements.
